The nearby market town of Bishop's Castle offers shops for basic needs as well as more individual and unusual shops. The leisure center provides swimming and squash, and the cafes and inns are full of character (2 brewing their own beers).

Castles, museums, crafts antiques and National Trust properties abound in the area. Renowned fayres, shows and festivals occur throughout the year in Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Church Stretton, Bishops Castle and even Ratlinghope itself!

For something to suit all ages a visit to Blists Hill, part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum is a must.

While nearby visit the remains of Wroxeter Roman city for a fascinating glimpse into the past.
Iron age forts and pre-historic sites are easily accessible and the effects of the ice age can be seen in the meres of Ellesmere.

Venture into Wales to Montgomery, climb upto the castle or visit the museum, craft shops or enjoy lunch or tea at The Castle Kitchen. Head deeper into Wales to Lake Vyrnwy and the waterfall at Rhyader. A visit to the Welsh coast takes approximately 1hour 40 minutes, Aberdovey being a favourite spot to sit on the beach and watch the boats.
